Storytime: Dinosaurs
This is a storytime I did back in (Di)November, but it's useful anytime throughout the year:
Opening Rhyme: Open Them, Shut Them
Book: The Super Hungry Dinosaur by Martin Waddell
Song: "If You're Happy and You Know It"
Book: Dinosaur Bones by Bob Barner
Rhyme: Dinosaur Moves
Spread your arms, way out wide,
Fly like a Pteranodon, soar and glide.
Bend to the floor, head down low,
Move like a Stegosaurus, long ago.
Reach up tall, try to be,
As tall as Apatosaurus eating on a tree.
Using your claws, grumble and growl,
Just like Tyrannosaurus on the prowl.
Book: Have You Seen My Dinosaur? by Jon Sugal
Rhyme: Dinosaur, Dinosaur
Dinosaur, dinosaur, stomp your feet.
Dinosaur, dinosaur, show your teeth.
Dinosaur, dinosaur, swing your tail.
Dinosaur, dinosaur, touch your scales.
Dinosaur, dinosaur, show your claws.
Dinosaur, dinosaur, open your jaws.
Dinosaur, dinosaur, give a roar.
Dinosaur, dinosaur, sit on the floor.
Book: What the Dinosaurs Did Last Night by Refe Tuma
Song: Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes
Book: Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs by Mo Willems (I abridged this one a bit since the kids got wiggly)
Goodbye Rhyme
Craft: We made dinosaur feet! Cut out a dino foot shape on craft foam or cardstock, decorate, and wear home!
