Eggers, Dave.
The Best American Nonrequired Reading. New York: Houghton Mifflin, 2010.
This book is an anthology of works of literature from 2009 that did not win any significant awards but still merit consideration. In addition to more than a few short stories, there are also contributions from fast-food crimes, gun magazine headlines, lawsuits, brand names, and sentences on page 50 form published works, among other things. This book is a fun conglomeration and a great addition to a library, as many of the sections are fairly short and do not need to be read in any particular order.
